Both versions deliver 320 horsepower when running on gasoline and 326 horsepower when running on E85 ethanol mix. Active fuel management allows the engine to run on fewer cylinders when it doesn’t require its full capacity. This increases fuel economy. Variable valve timing increases performance and responsiveness while also increasing efficiency. The ¾ ton Suburban uses a Vortec 6.0L V8 that offers 352 horsepower and also uses variable valve timing. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard with all models, while the ¾ ton Suburban uses a heavy-duty version of this transmission. All Tahoe and Suburban models are designed to tow. Moreover, this tow capacity can be increased and enhanced with the Heavy-Duty Trailering Package, optional on half ton models and standard on the ¾ ton Suburban.
