Commercial versions of the Vortec 6.0L V8 are also capable of running on compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas.The Express’ 4.3L V6 and 5.3L V8 engines come standard with a 4-speed automatic transmission that offers overdrive and a tow/haul mode setting. The 4.8L and 6.0L V8 engines for the Express come standard with a 6-speed heavy-duty transmission that delivers overdrive. The Express offers more versatility still with its segment exclusive Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel engine that delivers 260 horsepower. This engine is available on 3500 passenger vans, 2500/3500 cargo vans and all cutaway models. The Duramax engine uses a heavy-duty automatic 6-speed transmission. All cargo and passenger vans can be equipped with the Trailering Package that makes towing with the Express even easier. Cargo Express models can tow up to 10,000 pounds while passenger models can tow up to 9,900 pounds! Payload capacity is very impressive with the Express.
