The Chevrolet Silverado HD has Daytime Running Lights that keep it evident under all conditions. The HD doesn’t offer Daytime Running Lights. These are just a few of he better-quality safety features in the Silverado HD that the Super Duty decided not to provide.

The Silverado HD has available OnStar, which utilizes global positioning and cellular systems to remotely unlock your doors, track your truck if it’s stolen and even send emergency personnel to the scene in case of a collision. Your mind will consistently be at ease, knowing your car will have security even when you’re nowhere near it. The Ram HD doesn’t offer a comparable system, leaving you vulnerable if you’re incapacitated.

Warranty: There are over 40 percent more Chevrolet dealers than there are Dodge dealers, which makes it easier to get service under the Silverado HD’s warranty.

            Power and Performance: The Silverado HD’s 6.6L turbo V8 diesel delivers 47 more horsepower than the Ram HD’s diesel engine. The Silverado HD’s 6.6 turbo V8 diesel produces 47 more horsepower than the Ram HD’s optional 6.7 turbo diesel engine. The Silverado HD also has greater towing capacity than the Ram HD and the Silverado has a much larger payload capacity than the Ram. The Silverado HD 3500 Crew Cab 4×4 has a hauling capacity of 4,190 pounds compared to the Ram HD 4×4’s payload capacity of only 2,590 pounds!

To make the Silverado HD more economical it has the option to use regular unleaded gasoline. The Ram HD requires mid-grade gas to operate properly, costing you significantly more money over time. The Silverado HD also has 2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Ram HD Short Bed’s standard fuel tank. The Chevrolet Silverado HD comes standard issue with an automatic transmission, for the convenience of the driver. An automatic transmission costs extra on the Ram HD. The Silverado HD also offers a manual transmission with tap-up tap-down shifting (paddle shifters). The Ram HD once again,  fails to offer an equivalent transmission option.

Suspension and Handling: The Chevrolet Silverado HD’s independent front suspension is lighter than the HD 4×4’s solid front axle. This gives the Silverado HD greater capacity to react to the road. This makes both the ride and handling of the Chevy better than the Dodge. For an even smoother ride and better handling the Silverado HD’s wheelbase is longer than the HD’s. The Silverado HD’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower profile than the Ram HD’s tires. The Silverado also offers available 20-inch wheels—which allow for better handling. The Ram HD’s largest wheels are only 17 inches.

            Interior: The Silverado HD Regular Cab has more front headroom and more front legroom than the Ram HD Regular Cab. The Silverado HD Extended Cab also has more front head and leg room well as more rear head and leg room than the HD SuperCab. The Silverado HD Crew Cab has more front room than the Ram HD Crew Cab. Thus, the Chevy Silverado HD is the more specious and comfortable choice than the Dodge Super Duty. The Silverado HD also offers a larger cargo box than the Ram HD.

Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist are standard features on all Silverados except for the hybrid model. Trailer sway Control detects trailer sway and automatically uses the trucks brakes and powertrain to correct the trailer and the truck. Silverados equipped with the integrated trailer brake controller also automatically engaged the trailer’s brakes to control sway, as well as the truck’s brakes and powertrain. Hill Start Assist leaves the brakes of the Silverado engaged when on a steep grade for a few seconds after braking or until the gas pedal is pushed down. This effectively eliminates back roll.

Engine: The Impala’s 3.6L DOHC V6 produces 8 more horsepower than the Charger’s standard engine. At the same time, the Impala’s engine is also more efficient than the Charger’ engine.

Interior: The Impala offers optional seating for up to six passengers while the Charger can only carry a maximum of five passengers. The Impala also has more passenger volume than the Charger allowing for a more comfortable ride for everyone in the car. The Ram 1500 offers nothing comparable to these features. Moreover, the Avalanche has 5.5 more gallons of fuel capacity than the standard Ram 1500. This allows the Avalanche a greater maximum driving range than the 1500.

The Avalanche has an automatic transmission that offers manual control with tap-up tap-down shifting. This means that drivers get the convenience of an automatic transmission, while also have the control of a manual transmission without worrying about a clutch—giving you the best of both worlds and strengthening your driving experience! The Ram fails to offer a transmission that allows driver control of the gears. Ultimately, the Avalanche simply offers more power, performance, efficiency and utility standard than the Ram 1500.

Suspension and Handling: The front and rear suspension of the Avalanche use coil springs for a smoother ride, more responsive handling and precise control than the 1500, which uses inferior leaf springs in the rear. The Avalanche also has an available driver controlled suspension system. The 1500’s suspension doesn’t offer any kind of driver adjustable shock absorbers. For superior handling the track on the Avalanche is wider than the 1500’s. The Avalanche’s engine vibration is almost nonexistent in the cab because it has liquid-filled engine mounts. The 1500 still uses inferior conventional solid rubber engine mounts. The Avalanche offers car-like ride and handling, while the Ram has unresponsive control and an all around rough ride.

Jay Leno has had a very outstanding career with many achivements and now he can add another one to his list. He has recently hit the 10K mile mark on his Chevrolet Volt without even refilling his vehicle with gas once. Thats pretty incredible if you ask me. Leno, quoted in The New York Times “Wheels” blog, said he took delivery of his Chevrolet Volt last December with a full 9.3 gallon tank, and the tank is still more than half-full. To commemorate owners’ achievements, Chevrolet is planning on giving them a “10,000 Electric Mile” badge.

“Volt owners are an extremely passionate and enthusiastic group. They carry pictures of their car, refer to themselves by their VIN number and freely talk about their ownership experience with anyone who will ask,” Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing, said. “The 10,000 Electric Mile badge not only recognizes their achievement, but gives another point to brag about with anyone interested in learning more about the Chevrolet Volt.”Based on a recent survey by Chevrolet, Volt owners fill up once a month on average, and travel more than 900 miles between fuel fill-ups. EPA estimates for the car are 94 miles per gallon equivalent when running in electric mode, and 35 mpg city and 40 highway in range-extended mode.
