2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country with trailer

The new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 brings muscular designs and new customer-focused technologies to the most dependable, longest-lasting family of full-size pickups on the road. “Chevrolet builds trucks that meet the needs and wants of all drivers,” said Alan Gamblin. “Our customers will appreciate the focus on design, performance and technology that went into this truck and reflect the Silverado’s strength and reliability.”

Other changes for 2016 will include expanded use of 8-speed automatic transmissions, updated available Chevy MyLink with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and additional safety technologies.

Advanced lighting allowed Chevrolet designers to create more expressive forms, integrating the lights into the sweeping horizontal elements and deep grille inserts. Turn signals and brake lamps wrap around the corners of the truck for a more streamlined look.

The new designs provide a unique look for each Silverado trim level, and let customers chose a look that more closely fits their personalities. The muscular front end designs also feature a dramatically sculpted hood that helps give the new Silverado the strong presence that differentiates full-size pickups from other types of vehicles.

Silverado customers are among the top users of the connectivity offered by available OnStar and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. For 2016, Silverado will be available with support for Apple CarPlay, which projects select iPhone features (iPhone 5 and later) on the available MyLink display in a smart, simple manner.

This integration of phone and vehicle allows drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri, helping drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. Silverado models with the available 7-inch color MyLink also will support Android Auto.

The new 2016 Silverado 1500 offers safety features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist and IntelliBeam high beam assist. The 2016 Silverado is also available with a remote locking tailgate for convenience and security.

The new 2016 Silverado 1500 builds on the legacy of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road. Silverado features a fully boxed high-strength steel frame and a body structure that make extensive use of high strength steels, as well as roll-formed steel beds, which are stronger and lighter than conventional steel.

Customers can choose from three advanced EcoTec3 engines. They build on the legacy of Chevrolet small block truck engines, while incorporating advanced features to enhance power and efficiency. All three engines feature direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation, also known as Active Fuel Management, for improved power and efficiency. All switch to four-cylinder mode under light-load conditions. Silverado’s standard 4.3L V-6 is SAE certified at 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, the most torque of any standard V-6. The 5.3L V-8 is certified at 355-horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Offering an EPA highway estimate of 23 mpg, it is the most fuel efficient V-8 in any pickup. Silverado’s available 6.2L V-8 is certified at 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, the most power and torque of any light-duty pickup. This engine also offers the highest towing of any V-8 light-duty pickup, up to 12,000 pounds.

For 2016, the new 8-speed automatic transmission that is standard on 6.2L-equipped Silverados will be standard on LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country Silverados with the 5.3L V-8. The new 8-speed provides a numerically higher first gear ratio to help drivers start off more confidently with a heavy load or when trailering. Its wider overall gear ratio spread also enables numerically lower rear axle ratios, which reduce engine rpm on the highway.

A Great Supporter of Enumclaw Rotary

Daddy Daughter1
This 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on February, 23, 1905. This organization was a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

Gamblin Motors has been represented at Rotary since the late 1960’s, starting with our founder, Art Gamblin. Art was a champion of the Duck Race every year here in Enumclaw. Since then his son and our current owner, Alan Gamblin, has been a member of Rotary since 2000 and has held numerous positions and received several awards, including: Duck Master for several years and the Rotarian of the Year “Gear of the Year” in 2004.Daddy Daughter (1)

Jeri Gamblin has been a member of Rotary since 2014. She has served as the Community Chair since her induction where she has planned and executed four Senior Center activities, including the: “Honey Do”, the Senior Summer BBQ, Senior Thanksgiving, and Christmas Dinners. This past year she chaired the Father Daughter Valentine’s Day Dance where they had 3 sessions of 200 attendees. They had girls from 2 years old all the way to high school age there with their fathers. They planned activities, pictures, treats, and swag bags for each session. It was such a success they are already planning next year’s event.Daddy Daughter3

Jeri most recently received the Rotarian of the Year “Gear of the Year” award, and she feels truly humbled to receive this award from so many of her peers. She is very excited to continue her involvement with Rotary and the exciting activities and services they have planned for the future.

Rotarians have not only been present for major events in history—they’ve been a part of them. From the beginning, three key traits have remained strong throughout Rotary:

They’re truly international. Only 16 years after being founded, Rotary had clubs on six continents. Today they’re working together from around the globe both digitally and in-person to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems.

They persevere in tough times. During WWII, Rotary clubs in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Japan were forced to disband. Despite the risks, many continued to meet informally and following the war’s end, Rotary members joined together to rebuild their clubs and their countries.

Their commitment to service is ongoing. They began their fight against polio in 1979 with a project to immunize 6 million children in the Philippines. By 2012, only three countries remain polio-endemic—down from 125 in 1988.

Malibu Milestone: 10 Million Customers Served

Malibu 60's

Fifty-one years after it was introduced as Chevrolet’s first midsize car, production of the Malibu sedan has crossed the 10-million mark.

Chevrolet celebrated the sales achievement on August 31, 2015, for the global sedan in the United States, China and Korea, which collectively account for more than 90 percent of sales. The Malibu is sold in more than 25 markets around the world.

The Chevy Malibu has resonated with a wide array of customers since its introduction in 1964. We anticipate that the next-generation Malibu will attract new customers to the brand, and will continue to be a popular mainstay of our showroom.

Malibu’s 10-millionth milestone comes as the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu enters production. The ninth-generation sedan is completely restyled and is the most fuel-efficient, connected and technologically advanced Malibu ever – and many of its new and enhanced features, like its Teen Driver system which encourages safe driving habits for teens, were influenced by the voice of customers.

Longer and lighter, the new Malibu offers more interior space. Its wheelbase has been stretched nearly four inches (101 mm), and it is nearly 300 pounds (136 kg) lighter than the previous model.

The 2016 Malibu reaches an exceptional level of fuel efficiency with an all-new, available hybrid powertrain that uses technology from the Chevrolet Volt. It helps offer a General Motors-estimated 48 mpg city, 45 mpg highway – and 47 mpg combined, unsurpassed in the segment.

The Malibu’s standard 1.5L turbo powertrain is projected to offer 37 mpg highway. It also features a fuel-saving stop/start technology that enhances efficiency in stop-and-go driving.

Additional features include new Chevrolet MyLink with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility; and the all-new Teen Driver feature, which allows parents to view their kids’ driving statistics, such as maximum speed, warning alerts and more.

Malibu current

Malibu through the years

Named after the California city famous for its beaches, the 1964 Chevrolet Malibu was the top-line model of an all-new vehicle line touted as a premium choice for families that needed space and efficiency for long commutes.

Chevrolet called the Malibu an “intermediate” car – positioned between the full-size series and the compact Chevy II. It represented the birth of the mainstream midsize segment, which has grown to be the highest-volume segment in the industry. Customers snapped up more than 370,000 in the first year from a lineup that also included the entry-level 300 and Chevelle models, and a range of body styles that included coupes, sedans, wagons and convertibles. The lineup also included the Malibu SS muscle car.

Sales of Chevy’s upstart intermediate range topped 503,000 by 1969 – with the popular Malibu two-door sport coupe accounting for 300,000 of them.

Malibu rolled through the 1970s as one of the best-selling cars of the decade. It was retired in 1983, after its fourth generation. It returned in 1997 as a modern, front-drive sedan and was named Motor Trend Car of the Year. In the nearly 20 years since, it has evolved and offers the latest in efficiency-enhancing technologies, safety features and, more recently, the connectivity features that have become increasingly important to customers.

Squeaky Clean

Rain On My Shield

Roughly 90% of the decisions we make behind the wheel are based on a clear, unobstructed view of the road.  It doesn’t matter if you live in a part of the country littered with rain, snow, sand, dirt or mud, your specific environment slowly weakens your wipers ability to clean your windshield.

Modern cars have more sloped windshields which improve fuel economy, but it also puts more strain on wiper blades and wiper arms and high speeds.  Wiper arm spring tension is a vital component to the wiper blade being able to work effectively, as well as the number of pressure points in a wiper blade.

rain ride MGD©

Beam design wiper blades allow the blade to follow the curvature of your individual windshield and provide more consistent and complete contact in all weather conditions.

It is recommended that you change your wiper blades every 6 months or 6,000 miles (roughly every other oil change).  At each wiper change, inspect the spring and of your wiper arms.  You want a good snap!

A Whole Bunch of Color

DSCF0578

We were excited to sponsor the Win Me 5K color run. This event took place in our own backyard. The Enumclaw Expo Center was busy with thousands of people of all ages and fitness levels. What made this 5K different than any other 5K? Color! DSCF0501While racing through the beautiful course, racers were doused at ten different color stations along the way. Runners started the race wearing white and ended wearing a rainbow of colors. We were given the provided volunteers at the blue color station, and we loved hitting everyone with a little bit of Chevrolet Blue.DSCF0508

Each runner was entered to win thousands of dollars in prizes. Prizes included Macbooks, iPads, Apple watches, vacation getaways, and a brand new car. Throwing color on people is sure fun, but giving away a brand new car is exhilarating. Gamblin Motors sent home a brand new Chevy Spark with Leta Johnson. She was stunned and ecstatic.DSCF0692

DSCF0683Not only were participants given the chance to win great prizes, but could give back to multiple charities. Runners and sponsors made donations to Seattle Children’s Hospital, Strong Against Cancer, Send a Kid to Bumbshoot, and our local charity, Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation.DSCF0511

Buick Introduces Apple CarPlay Capability

Apple CarPlay is standard in the 2016 model year Buick Regal and LaCrosse, providing a smarter, simpler way to use an iPhone while on the go. Buick is committed to providing the simplest connected driving experience possible to customers.

Apple CarPlay is standard in the 2016 model year Buick Regal and LaCrosse, providing a smarter, simpler way to use an iPhone while on the go. Buick is committed to providing the simplest connected driving experience possible to customers.

As the world becomes increasingly connected, Buick remains at the forefront of new applications and connectivity that provide customers with a seamless, integrated driving experience. That legacy advances with new Apple CarPlay capability for smartphones offered in all 2016 Regal and LaCrosse models.

The technology connects a smartphone through Buick’s IntelliLink system, integrating applications such as navigation, hands-free text messaging, contact lists and entertainment apps for news or music onto the eight-inch-diagonal IntelliLink radio display. Later in the model year, Android Auto capability will also be offered with IntelliLink.

Apple CarPlay takes the iPhone features customers want to access while driving and puts them on the vehicle’s display in a smart, simple manner. This allows drivers to make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music right from the touchscreen or by voice via Siri. Apple CarPlay-supported apps include Phone, Messages, Maps, Music and compatible third-party apps. A full list of those apps can be found at Apple.com/ios/carplay. Apple CarPlay is compatible with iOS 7.1 or higher.

Android Auto is built around Google Maps, Google Now and the ability to talk to Google, as well as a growing audio and messaging app ecosystem that includes WhatsApp, Skype, Google Play Music, Spotify and podcast players. A full list of supported apps is available at g.co/androidauto. Android Auto requires a phone running an Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system or higher.

Using both applications is simple. A “Projection” icon on the IntelliLink screen is visible when a phone is not connected, then changes to indicate CarPlay or Android Auto when a compatible phone is connected via USB.

A majority of the smartphone applications with the respective systems are controlled via voice commands through a steering wheel button, which ensures drivers keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Compatible apps need to be downloaded to a phone before using. Apple and Google’s privacy statements and terms of use apply. Data plan rates may also apply.
