Chevrolet recently introduced the 2017 Sonic – a more expressive, sporty take on the brand’s fun-to-drive small car. It offers drivers big technologies such as a new MyLink system with segment-exclusive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a fresh exterior with new LED signature lighting.

The updated styling complements new comfort and convenience features such as an available heated steering wheel and a standard 7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen for the new MyLink system. Rear Park Assist is also new, adding to one of the most comprehensive safety packages in the segment.

“We anticipate the 2017 Sonic will attract first-time and returning customers alike with its new design and leading technology – all at an affordable price,” said Alan Gamblin. “All the while continuing its reputation of being a fun-to-drive and efficient small car.”

The 2017 Sonic goes on sale this fall, offered in LS, LT and Premier trims on sedan models. The hatchback returns exclusively in RS guise, offered in LT and Premier trims. An RS package is also available on the sedan.

Sonic’s athletic exterior has an entirely new, expressive look echoing the global Chevrolet cues seen on vehicles such as the Cruze, Bolt EV and 2017 Trax. Projector-beam headlamps are standard, along with available LED daytime running lamps. Likewise, the rear fascia is new. There are also new 15-, 16- and 17-inch wheel designs and four new exterior colors offered in 2017: Orange Burst Metallic, Brimstone, Cajun Red Tintcoat and Arctic Blue Metallic (late availability).

Drivers will find the Sonic’s thoughtful interior retains its focus on delivering comfort, convenience and technology. A new, detailed gauge cluster incorporating an analog speedometer adds a higher degree of refinement to the cabin, complementing additional new comfort and convenience features.

For 2017, Sonic becomes the first in its segment to offer a power driver’s seat. Additional new features include:

  • Keyless Open and Start
  • Available heated cloth seats with new heated steering wheel

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible Debuts at New York Auto Show

The 2017 Camaro ZL1 is poised to challenge the most advanced sports coupes in the world in any measure – with unprecedented levels of technology, refinement, track capability and straight-line acceleration.

The Camaro ZL1 was thoughtfully engineered from the inside out to offer an incredible driving experience. As a true performance coupe with the highest levels of technology, it is sure to be a hit when it arrives in our showroom.

Acceleration for the ZL1 is delivered with a new supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine estimated at 640 hp (477 kW), and either a six-speed manual transmission with active rev matching or an all-new 10-speed automatic. Handling capability starts with the lightweight, stiffer structure of the all-new sixth-Gen Camaro, married with Magnetic Ride suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential. Standard technologies include Driver Mode Selector, dual-mode exhaust and advanced connectivity features.

The 2017 Camaro ZL1 is poised to challenge the most advanced performance cars in the world in any measure – with unprecedented levels of technology, refinement, track capability and straight-line acceleration. From the fully automatic soft top that seamlessly disappears beneath the hard tonneau cover, to modular underbody bracing to allow the same sharp, nimble handling as the coupe, the Camaro ZL1 Convertible is a high-tech masterpiece. The fully automatic top can be raised or lowered with a single button while driving up to 30 mph, or lowered remotely with the keyfob.

The fully automatic top can be raised or lowered with a single button while driving up to 30 mph, or lowered remotely with the keyfob.

Functionality defines the Camaro ZL1’s form, with the exterior shaped during more than 100 hours of wind-tunnel testing and on-track validation to improve aerodynamics and cooling for track use. Accordingly, its exterior elements all play a part in managing airflow over, under and through the ZL1.

The lower grille opening, for example, offers greater airflow compared to the Camaro SS, and the upper grille incorporates a new version of the “flow-tie” open bowtie insignia. There’s also a new hood, with a carbon fiber insert and heat extractor that pulls hot air from the engine compartment. Additional changes include a larger front splitter, unique rockers, a wing-style rear spoiler and wider front fenders – all tuned to improve aerodynamics for greater high-speed stability.

A cohesive suite of performance technologies tailors ZL1’s performance for street and track. Features include an updated Magnetic Ride suspension, Performance Traction Management, electronic limited-slip differential, Custom Launch Control and Driver Mode Selector. It also has a stronger power-to-weight ratio than its predecessor, weighing 200 pounds less, while offering approximately 60 more horsepower and 80 more pound-feet of torque.

Underhood customers will find the ZL1 features a supercharged LT4 6.2L V-8 Small Block engine, with intake and exhaust systems tailored for Camaro. It is rated at an estimated 640 horsepower (477 kW) and 640 lb-ft of torque (868 Nm).

The LT4 is backed by a standard six-speed manual transmission or all-new, available paddle-shift 10-speed automatic. The 10-speed automatic has 7.39 overall ratio for smaller steps between gears. It enables the LT4 engine to remain at optimal rpm levels during acceleration, particularly when exiting corners, for quicker laps and lightning-quick responses on both up- and down-shifts.

This is the first Chevrolet application of the new quick-shift 10-speed, with unique calibrations and hardware developed exclusively for the ZL1. By the end of 2018, GM will introduce the new 10-speed automatic in eight vehicle models.

Lisa Eng

Congratulation to Lisa Eng for being named March’s Employee of the month. She is the friendly and welcoming face of the Gamblin Collision Center. She began working for us in 2005, but took several years off after the birth of her last daughter. She came back to work in 2011 and enjoys her part-time schedule so she can get her two daughters off to school and be home when they get out.    Congratulations Lisa!

Alan Has a Deal That Can’t Be Beat

Cruze red LS

Here is one of the BEST DEALS I can ever remember from Chevrolet.  It entails an alternative form of financing called a lease.  Before you say leasing is not for me, here are some people who lease their vehicles.  Three of my own children and the Comptroller, Service Manager, Finance Managers and Office Staff at Art Gamblin Motors all lease their vehicles.  For most people, leasing a new Cruze makes perfect sense.  With this two year lease you get over $1,500 more in rebates, lower interest and at the end of two years you can buy the car for a predetermined value, trade it in, or if you don’t have equity, just return it in good condition.  I hear people say, “I don’t own my vehicle if I lease.” Remember, if you have a conventional loan, you don’t own your car, the bank does.
Why would Gamblin and Chevrolet lease a new Cruze for $139 per month for two years?  The answer may be that there is a new body style change coming soon and we are betting you will want to drive that in two years.  Think about it.  Leasing makes sense for my family and it probably makes sense for someone in yours too.

The 2017 Cruze Hatch offers the design, engineering and technological advancements of the 2016 Cruze sedan in a functional, sporty package with added cargo space.

Ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet introduced the 2017 Cruze Hatchback. Developed with all the technologies and dynamic driving attributes of the all-new 2016 Cruze sedan, the new hatch adds a functional and sporty choice for customers. It joins Colorado and Trax as the latest Chevrolets to push into new segments.

The Cruze Hatch has the same, class-leading 106.3-inch (2,700 mm) wheelbase as sedan models, but features a unique roof and rear-end structure – including wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the top of the liftgate. It opens to offer 22.7 cubic feet (643 liters) of cargo space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 47.2 cubic feet (1,336 liters).

“Chevrolet continues to innovate with the 2017 Cruze Hatch,” said Alan Gamblin of Gamblin Motors. “It will be sure to delight customers with its functional, sporty package offering distinctive styling, greater efficiency and easy-to-use technology.”

An all-new, more rigid and lighter architecture is the Cruze’s foundation for driving dynamism, while also playing a significant role in safety and efficiency. It is more than 200 pounds (91 kg) lighter than the previous-generation model due largely to a body structure that is 100 pounds lighter and an engine that’s 44 pounds (20 kg) lighter.

The Cruze lineup is offered in L, LS, LT and Premier – and a more expressive RS package, featuring unique front and rear fascias, rocker panels, rear spoiler, fog lamps and – on the Premier model – 18-inch wheels.

The 2017 Cruze Hatch will be offered in LT and Premier trims, and with the RS package.
