Giving away prizes is one of many perks that come along with being one of the participants. Each runner will be entered for a chance at thousands of dollars in prizes, the opportunity to give back to multiple charities, and the experience of a lifetime. Gamblin Motors is excited to be the title sponsor, as well as sending one lucky winner home in a Brand New Chevrolet Spark. The Spark is a nimble and compact commuter car that is capable of 39 MPG but is truly one of the world’s only big, small cars.

A new car, thousands in gifts and prizes aside, the Win ME 5K is about promoting a healthy and active lifestyle while supporting local charities like Seattle Children’s Hospital, Strong Against Cancer, and the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation.

Enumclaw Homecoming game sponsored by Gamblin Motors

With the stands at Pete’s Pool filled to the max, it was a loud venue for the visiting Auburn Mountain View Lions. That didn’t stop them from coming out of the gates fired up. They drew first blood to take a 7-0 lead 7 minutes into the first quarter. The Hornets’ 12th Man stayed loud and positive which motivated junior Bryson Grant to get a nice kick return to set up the Enumclaw offense. That was eventually stopped by the Lions with an interception.

The second quarter came up fast and the Hornet defense was caught off guard and allowed another Auburn Mountain View touchdown only 2 minutes in to the second. The Hornets’ offense has some struggles this year but turned it around this drive as a couple runs by sophomore back Cameron Strecker set up a Quarterback Scramble from Tyler Carlson. The stands got loud as they got to show off what Enumclaw spirit really looked like while the homecoming bell and siren went off to add to the noise of the celebration.

6 minutes remained in the half as the hornets looked to give the ball back to the lions. But it was all downhill for the rest of the first half for the Hornets.  The Lions had an untouched kick return to make the score 21-7 in favor of Mountain View. The Enumclaw offense came out looking to repeat what happened last time but came short and went 4 and out. The hot and fired up Lion’s offense took the field and with some nice passes led to another touchdown in the air.

Hold on. The end of the chaotic finish of the first half did not end yet. With less than 20 seconds on the clock, Enumclaw threw an interception to the linebacker of the Lions who ran until tackled by Tyler Carlson and Erick Ritzdorf on their own 2. That setup the last play of the first half which was a quick slant route scoring for Lions. The ending score of the first half was 34-7. The Hornets trying to defend their title of never losing to Auburn Mountain View was on the line. How would they finish?

After the homecoming halftime festivities came to a conclusion, the Hornets and Lions came back out on to the new turf to find the relatively same story as the first half.  The only score of the 3rd quarter was a result of a touchdown reception from the 6’2 junior wide receiver Adam Cosgrove. Could it be the turning point of the game? Well in the early minutes of the 4th, the lions QB did a little 2 yard sneak to poke it in the end zone to pad the lead in their favor.

After some good defensive drives from both sides, Auburn Mountain View scored for the last time of the game to make their lead to 48-14. But the sophomore running back Cameron Strecker had enough to motivate him to power his way up the field and to get the 6 points and final score of Enumclaw. Enumclaw goes on to make the PAT to make the final score 48-21 Auburn Mountain View. That’s all she wrote at Pete’s Pool this year for Enumclaw’s homecoming game sponsored by Art Gamblin motors.

Save Your Gas This Summer

With fuel prices on the rise this summer, we thought we would share some tips that will make your tank of gas last a little longer.

1. Avoid High Speeds- As your speed increasees, your drag increases. Driving 62 mph vs. 75 mph will reduce fuel consumption by about 15%.

2. Do Not Accelerate or Brake Hard- By anticipating the traffic and applying slow steady acceleration and braking, fuel economy may increase by as much as 20%.

3. Keep Tires Properly Inflated- Keep tire air pressure at the level recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. A single tire under inflated by 2 PSI, increases fuel consumption by 1%. Another option would be inflating your tires using Nitrogen. Nitrofill is a great way to keep your tires properly inflated while extending the life of your tires as well.

4. Use A/C Sparingly- When the air conditioner is on, it puts extra load on the engine forcing about 20% more fuel to be used. The defrost position on most vehicles also uses the air conditioner.

5. Keep Windows Closed- Having windows open, especially on the highway, increases drag and decreases fuel economy by about 10%.

6. Service Vehicle Regularly– Proper maintenance avoids poor fuel economy related to dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels.

7. Use Cruise Control- Maintaining a constant speed over long distances often saves gas.

8. Avoid Heavy Loads- Remove the sand bags from your truck in the spring and pack lightly for long trips.

9. Avoid Long Idles- If you anticipate being stopped for more than 1 minute, shut off the car. Restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle for this time.

10. Purchase a Fuel Efficient Vehicle- When buying a new vehicle, examine the vehicles rated fuel efficiency. Usually choosing a small vehicle with a manual transmission will provide you with great fuel economy.

General Motors offers a great selection of fuel efficient vehicles at affordable prices. The all new Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Impala, Buick Regal are all great options when looking for a fuel efficient car.

Mother Nature Controls Car Colors

Beyond the recent devastating effects of Mother Nature, she now is controlling car colors.  Chevrolet and other automotive manufacturers have announced shortages on some colors as a result of the Japanese tsunami.  The shiny pigment called Xirallic used in some auto paint is only produced in a single plant in Japan owned by Merck.  Auto manufacturers use Xirallic to give metallic paints a sparkling appearance.  If you are looking for a Chevy in metallic gray, taupe, red and bright blue, you better hurry in while there is a selection.  Most production of these colors have stopped.

Our hearts go out to those suffering from these natural disasters, whether earthquakes, tsunamis or tornados.  For some, not having a shiny metallic red car might be a daily reminder of the power of Mother Nature and the devastation she can cause.

A Note From Alan Gamblin

My wife inspired me to go on a diet.  After three weeks I’ve lost 15 lbs. and 2 inches in my waist.  Now all my pants are too big.  If I didn’t have a belt, I would be looking like some of the kids I see at the mall that purposely wear their pants to show off their underwear.

I’m excited that my pants don’t fit because now I have to buy some new ones.  It’s been a long time and my daughters think it’s great because I have to throw away my “old man pants” and get new ones.  Even my Levi’s with holes have to go. Now I have new jeans that actually fit.  Yes, I had to hem them and they did cost more, but they do look better.  A lady at the airport asked my wife, “how did you get your husband to wear those jeans?  I’ve been begging my husband to get a pair.”

I share this story because I think our new car diet is over.  We’ve made do with vehicles that don’t fit us anymore.  We have had to live lean, but we now have the opportunity to buy a  car, truck or SUV with better quality, longer warranty and with interest rates lower than ever before.  We can own a Chevy or Buick that is more stylish, more compatible, fits our changing life style, is more fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly.  Our products like the new Chevy Cruze, Camaro, Equinox, Silverado HD and Buick Lacrosse and Regal are world class.

Yesterday, I had my first cookie in three weeks.  It was so good, it was the best cookie I’ve ever tasted.  I guarantee test driving a new car will feel just as good.   My diet is over, shouldn’t your car diet be too?

Sneak Peak at Chevy’s Super Bowl Commercials

If you asked some people around the dealership who was playing in the Super Bowl I don’t know if they could tell you it was the Green Bay Packers vs the Pittsurgh Steelers.  But, if you asked them if they were going to watch the game they would respond yes.  Most Americans tune in to watch the Super Bowl not for the actual game itself but the commercials.  Since the superbowl is one of the most watched television events it drives the highest value for TV commercials.  The average Super Bowl commercial averages about $2.7 million for just 30 seconds.  Now I personally can think of a lot of things that 2.7 million dollars would give me and each one of those last longer than 30 seconds.

Chevrolet announced a few weeks back that they were planning on spending quite a bit of money for this exposure.  After most Super Bowls many people at work sit around the water cooler not talking about the highlights of the game but what Super Bowl Commercial they thought was the funniest.  Over the years there has been many clever commercials that have had people talking for days.  Chevrolet decided to release some of the commercials that will be airing during Sundays games.

We have put each commercial spot in order in which we thought was the best.

“Misunderstanding Chevrolet Cruze Eco 43 MPG”

“Tommy, Chevrolet Silverado 2500”

“2011 Chevrolet Camaro Miss Evelyn”

“Transformers Al’s Chevrolet”

“Discovery Chevrolet Volt”

“Facebook Status Chevrolet Cruze”

Now that we have put in order what our favorite Chevrolet commercials where, comment and let us know what your favorite commercial was!

What is that!?

Art Gamblin Motors QR Code

Have you seen one of these before?  It is ok if you haven’t. it is not some new modern art trend that you are missing out on.  This is a QR Code or also known as a “matrix barcode” This  is a 2-dimensional barcode which can be scanned by any barcode scanner which includes the one  on your iphone or smartphone.  Go ahead and scan the code with your phone above and see where it takes you!

QR codes were created in the middle 1990’s in Japan and were used in manufacturing to track parts and shipments. Known as Quick Response barcodes these specialized barcodes allowed the tracking of parts to much more efficient but also allowed users to get important information at the same time.  Over the past decade these codes have started appearing outside of the manufacture sector and made their way into advertising.

You will start seeing these funny looking barcodes more and more in stores, newspapers and magazines.  You might have seen one in a newspaper advertisement or even a magazine already but you probably did not know what it was.  What marketers and advertisers love about these barcodes is allowing customers/shoppers to get the specific digital information quickly and directly.

At Art Gamblin Motors we have created a specific QR code for each one of our vehicles.  When you are shopping  or looking around at one of our vehicles and you want to find out what options or the current internet price all it takes is a quick scan with your smart phone.  Each QR code will take you directly to each vehicles specific page on our website www.gamblinmotors.com.
