Edgar Rodeo Spotlight

Meet Edgar: Sales Manager, Rodeo Competitor, and Horse Enthusiast!

Edgar’s passion for rodeo started early—riding at his grandpa’s cattle ranch in Mexico when he was just 4 or 5 years old. The main sport in town was coleadero (similar to steer wrestling), and he always wanted to try it. In his early 20s, when his dad bought their first ranch and they got horses, he finally had the chance to compete. Since then, he’s never looked back!

Today, Edgar competes in coleadero and cala (similar to reining) as part of the Charros La Herradura team. His most memorable moment in competition? His team’s first season competing in Tri Cities, where they struggled all year but came together when it counted—finishing in the top 3 and earning his first 3rd place buckle in steer wrestling!

How Rodeo Connects to His Work at Gamblin
Edgar believes rodeo has shaped him in many ways:
Discipline & Hard Work – “In any sport, it takes discipline. That applies to my role as a Sales Manager, too.”
Teamwork – “Encouraging and pushing each other to be better is just as important in rodeo as it is in sales.”
Humility & Respect – “Rodeo teaches you to be humble. Just like at work, there’s always room for improvement. I believe in treating my co-workers and customers with respect and dignity.”

His Truck Pick for Hauling Horses?
A Silverado HD Duramax Diesel—and if he could have his dream truck, it would be the Silverado 2500 ZR2 (which he plans to factory order someday)!

Favorite Horse?
“Napoleon, a Friesian my dad gifted me when we got our first ranch. I trained him, but he was more of a show horse than a rodeo horse, so I eventually sold him to a great home. He’ll always have a special place in our family’s heart.”

Advice for Anyone Interested in Rodeo?
“Rodeo is a great family activity that teaches important life lessons—hard work, discipline, and perseverance. It’s not for the faint at heart. There are many winter days when my son and I are cleaning frozen horse stalls, and I ask myself, ‘Why am I doing this?’ But come spring, it all makes sense. Once you start rodeo, there’s no getting out!” Next time you’re at Gamblin, stop by and chat with Edgar—whether it’s about trucks, horses, or rodeo, he’s always happy to share his passion!
