Standard on the LTZ and optional in the LT and XFE is an AM/FM/XM satellite stereo with CD/MP3 player and USB port.  Available on the LT, XFE and LTZ is an AM/FM/XM satellite stereo with MP3-compatible 6-disc CD changer and USB port. Part of the Rear-Seat Entertainment System available on the LTZ is an AM/FM/XM satellite stereo system with CD/DVD player and USB port. And the way the Silverado smooth handling works with its rigid fully boxed frame, coil-over-shock front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, all tied together with advanced engineering and manufacturing techniques evident throughout the entire truck create a smoother ride. The Silverado’s solid chassis results in a stronger base for towing. As a result of these elements the Chevy Silverado is given precise and smooth handling.

The 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 Is loaded with responsive active handling features that ensure your safety and others around you. In order to maintain control of your vehicle on all surfaces, antilock braking is standard on all Silverados. The StabiliTrak Stability Control System and the Roll Avoidance feature—which helps reduce the chance of rollover in a collision—are standard on all Silverado 1500s as well. StabiliTrak uses sensors to detect if the Silverado is following the drivers intended course or not and helps the driver maintain control of their truck with automatic braking and traction control assistance, if needed.

The Silverado XFE and LTZ models have the segment exclusive G80 automatic locking rear differential standard, and it’s available in all other Silverado models as well. The G80 grants the Silverado unparalleled traction control. If one wheel begins to spin the locking differential will correct the spin. This means that the Silverado actually has real 4-wheel drive capability and control, whereas the competition has only partially locking differentials at best. Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist are standard features on all Silverados except for the hybrid model. Trailer sway Control detects trailer sway and automatically uses the trucks brakes and powertrain to correct the trailer and the truck. Silverados equipped with the integrated trailer brake controller also automatically engaged the trailer’s brakes to control sway, as well as the truck’s brakes and powertrain. Hill Start Assist leaves the brakes of the Silverado engaged when on a steep grade for a few seconds after braking or until the gas pedal is pushed down. This effectively eliminates back roll.

The 6-speed transmission is standard with XFE and LTZ models and is also included with all 5.3L and 6.2L Vortec engines. Both of these transmissions deliver the power of all the Vortec engines with precision and efficiency.
