His words carry weight that would break a less interesting mans jaw. He is the life of parties he has never attended. He bowls…. Overhand. He is….. the most interesting salesperson in the world.
The magazine took both 1-ton Chevrolet and Ford pickups, hooked them to trailers with 18,900-pound loads and accelerated up I-70 in Colorado. Even though the horsepower and torque ratings are similar, in a real word setting the results weren’t even close.
Acceleration: “the Silverado made it through the quarter-mile more than 2 seconds quicker, achieved a top speed that was nearly 10 mph faster, and finished the entire climb more than 2 minutes ahead of the Ford. The Duramax performed significantly better at 11,000 feet of elevation as well pulling the 18,900 lb load at 47 mph, while the Ford slowed to 35 mph. Acceleration Test Winner: Chevrolet Silverado.”
The article continues, “The exhaust brake test brought out similar success for the Duramax and Allison combination. As we began our downhill run, the Ford descended the western slope well but required an average of 14 application’s of the truck’s brake pedal to hold the vehicle speed between 50-60 mph. Going downhill in the Chevy, the driver had far less work to do…. the Chevy only required 1 brake application for the entire 8-mile downhill run. While the difference in hillclimbing between the Chevy and Ford is impressive, the exhaust braking advantage of Silverado is staggering. Exhaust Brake Test Winner: Chevy Silverado HD.”

My wife inspired me to go on a diet. After three weeks I’ve lost 15 lbs. and 2 inches in my waist. Now all my pants are too big. If I didn’t have a belt, I would be looking like some of the kids I see at the mall that purposely wear their pants to show off their underwear.
I’m excited that my pants don’t fit because now I have to buy some new ones. It’s been a long time and my daughters think it’s great because I have to throw away my “old man pants” and get new ones. Even my Levi’s with holes have to go. Now I have new jeans that actually fit. Yes, I had to hem them and they did cost more, but they do look better. A lady at the airport asked my wife, “how did you get your husband to wear those jeans? I’ve been begging my husband to get a pair.”
I share this story because I think our new car diet is over. We’ve made do with vehicles that don’t fit us anymore. We have had to live lean, but we now have the opportunity to buy a car, truck or SUV with better quality, longer warranty and with interest rates lower than ever before. We can own a Chevy or Buick that is more stylish, more compatible, fits our changing life style, is more fuel efficient and more environmentally friendly. Our products like the new Chevy Cruze, Camaro, Equinox, Silverado HD and Buick Lacrosseand Regal are world class.
Yesterday, I had my first cookie in three weeks. It was so good, it was the best cookie I’ve ever tasted. I guarantee test driving a new car will feel just as good. My diet is over, shouldn’t your car diet be too?
What is the Volt? The Chevrolet Volt is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability. The Volt is capable of about 340 miles total driving range, with electricity powering the car at all times and speeds. For trips of up to 40 miles, the Volt gets its power solely from electricity stored in its 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. When the Volt’s battery runs low, an engine-generator seamlessly engages to extend the driving range for an additional 300 miles on a full tank of gas.
Who will get the most benefit from driving the Volt? According to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, more than 75% of people commute 40 miles a day or less. If you plug in frequently, you’ll experience the greatest gas savings and reduced emissions. Per mile, electricity is less expensive to use than gas, so if you can plug in before or shortly after the electric charge runs out, you’ll get the maximum benefit out of Volt.
What happens if I travel more than 40 miles? Once the charge in the Volt battery is depleted, the gas engine will turn on to seamlessly generate enough energy to continue to power the car for up to 300 additional miles.
How much does Volt cost to charge? Electricity is an extremely affordable way to power a car —If the car is driven less than 40 miles, it will cost about $1.50 a day for electricity. That’s about the same annual cost as running a common household appliance.
How long does it take to recharge? The Volt will take about 4 hours to recharge on 240 volts or about 10 hours on a standard 120-volt home outlet. A 20-foot portable vehicle charge cord will come standard and is designed to work on any standard 120-volt outlet.
When will Volt arrive at Gamblin Motors? Chevrolet is releasing Volt on a State by State basis. The good news is that Volt production is increasing more than double from original forecast. The State of Washington is due to have Volt in the fourth quarter of this year.

If you asked some people around the dealership who was playing in the Super Bowl I don’t know if they could tell you it was the Green Bay Packers vs the Pittsurgh Steelers. But, if you asked them if they were going to watch the game they would respond yes. Most Americans tune in to watch the Super Bowl not for the actual game itself but the commercials. Since the superbowl is one of the most watched television events it drives the highest value for TV commercials. The average Super Bowl commercial averages about $2.7 million for just 30 seconds. Now I personally can think of a lot of things that 2.7 million dollars would give me and each one of those last longer than 30 seconds.
Chevrolet announced a few weeks back that they were planning on spending quite a bit of money for this exposure. After most Super Bowls many people at work sit around the water cooler not talking about the highlights of the game but what Super Bowl Commercial they thought was the funniest. Over the years there has been many clever commercials that have had people talking for days. Chevrolet decided to release some of the commercials that will be airing during Sundays games.
We have put each commercial spot in order in which we thought was the best.
“Misunderstanding Chevrolet Cruze Eco 43 MPG”
“Tommy, Chevrolet Silverado 2500”
“2011 Chevrolet Camaro Miss Evelyn”
“Transformers Al’s Chevrolet”
“Discovery Chevrolet Volt”
“Facebook Status Chevrolet Cruze”
Now that we have put in order what our favorite Chevrolet commercials where, comment and let us know what your favorite commercial was!
We had agreat turn out for our most recent new owners clinic that was held on the 27th of January. More than thirty new car owners joined us in some awesome food, tours around the dealership and a power point presentations from several members of our team here at Gamblin Motors.

Our award winning Service Department and our technicians here at Gamblins are highly GM trained and are ready to fix any problem that might occur with your vehicle. Our Service Department not only just works on GM vehicles but they work on all makes and models. The Gamblin Gold book is a rewards program to keep your vehicle on a routine maintenance schedule. Our customers who have purchased Gamblin Gold books love the benefits the book provides in savings.
To wrap up the night we broke into groups and gave our guests tours around the service and body shop facilities to familiarize them with the process when they come in for their service work. We had one of our master technicians, Dave Cooper, on hand to speak about some of the common tools mechanics at our dealership use on a daily basis.
We had a great time sharing what we do on a daily basis as well as giving some useful information that will help our customers in the future. We will be holding our next new owners clinic this coming May. We will let you know what the exact date of the clinic will be and we hope to see you there.

Many people in the car industry want to know how the Chevrolet Cruze Eco gets 43 MPG on the hwy. People are stumped by this because the Eco is not a clean diesel nor a hybrid, so is the number inflated by Chevrolet or does the Chevrolet Cruze get 43-MPG. Well we are proud to say that the number is NOT inflated and the Cruze Eco really does get 43 MPG. So what is the secret for the Cruze to get such amazing fuel saving numbers.
Chevrolet wanted to address three key areas to maximize fuel efficiency. The specific areas of focus to help get the Cruze Eco to 43-MPG was to work on the aero-dymanics, make the Cruze lighter and fine tune the engine.
The first place they started was aero-dynamics. Chevrolet and its engineers put an under body covering or tray to reduce wind turbulence and control airflow under the tires. The next step was to close off the front grille but still maintaining the correct engine temperature. One of the biggest tricks that Chevy came up with was when the Cruze Eco reaches about 38 MPH and calculating temperature gauges throughout the car a set of slates drop down in the front bumper area to help the Cruze to drop its coefficient of drag by over 10% compared to the sedan. Now think of this set of slates dropping like the Bugatti Veryon’s spoiler that magically appears when it reaches certain speeds.
The egineers wanted to put the Cruze Eco on a diet and drop as much weight as possible, but they were only to drop the weight by 214 lbs. Over 42 changes were made to shed the 214 Lbs.
The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco comes with a 1.4L turbo-charged four-cylinder engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. To save a little extra fuel the air conditioning compressor now has a clutch to reduce drag on the engine. Also, there is an intelligent charging system set up that only engages the alternator when needed.
Now there isn’t much difference cosmetically from the Chevrolet Cruze and the Cruze Eco. There is not graphics down the side like the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrids. If you were to put the Eco next to one of our many Cruzes on the lot you would only notice the difference with the green Eco logo on the back and the slightly modified grille in the front.
At Art Gamblin Motors we are excited about the new Chevrolet Cruze Eco and its staggering 43-MPG hwy. We suggest if you are in the market for a gas saving vehicle to put the Cruze Eco on your list, we know you won’t be disappointed.
