The 6T40 6-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission is standard on the 2012 Cruze LTZ and is available in LS, LT and Eco Cruze as well. This automatic transmission is smooth and capable by itself and also has Driver Shift Control that allows the driver to use tap up and tap down manual shifting at will (paddle shifters). Advanced adaptive shift controls in the transmission intelligently employ lower gears when slowing down or coasting on an incline. While all models of the Chevy Cruze achieve have excellent fuel economy, the Cruze Eco maximizes fuel economy to the highest degree. This has made the Cruze Eco the most fuel-efficient gasoline-powered car in theUnited States with 42 miles per gallon on the highway. This is due to incredible aerodynamic design that offers a very low drag coefficient of 0.29; race car inspired underbody panels and electronically controlled air shutters to further increase aerodynamic efficiency. The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer anything comparable to OnStar. And these are just a few of the ways in which the Avalanche is superior to the Ram in safety.

Power and Performance: The Avalanche’s Vortec 5.3L V8 engine produces 105 more horsepower Ram 1500’s standard 3.7L V6! The Avalanche’s Vortec engine is also equipped with FlexFuel which allows it to run on emissions reducing E85 fuel. Active Fuel Management is also standard. Both the sequential fuel injection system and the Active fuel management system allow the Avalanche to achieve excellent fuel economy and efficiency. The Ram 1500 offers nothing comparable to these features. Moreover, the Avalanche has 5.5 more gallons of fuel capacity than the standard Ram 1500. This allows the Avalanche a greater maximum driving range than the 1500.

The Avalanche has an automatic transmission that offers manual control with tap-up tap-down shifting. This means that drivers get the convenience of an automatic transmission, while also have the control of a manual transmission without worrying about a clutch—giving you the best of both worlds and strengthening your driving experience! The Ram fails to offer a transmission that allows driver control of the gears. Ultimately, the Avalanche simply offers more power, performance, efficiency and utility standard than the Ram 1500.

Suspension and Handling: The front and rear suspension of the Avalanche use coil springs for a smoother ride, more responsive handling and precise control than the 1500, which uses inferior leaf springs in the rear. The Avalanche also has an available driver controlled suspension system. The 1500’s suspension doesn’t offer any kind of driver adjustable shock absorbers. For superior handling the track on the Avalanche is wider than the 1500’s. The Avalanche’s engine vibration is almost nonexistent in the cab because it has liquid-filled engine mounts. The 1500 still uses inferior conventional solid rubber engine mounts. The Avalanche offers car-like ride and handling, while the Ram has unresponsive control and an all around rough ride.

Drivetrain: The Silverado HD has a genuine four-wheel drive system, which uses a four-wheel traction control system to direct engine power to the specific axle and wheel that has traction. This allows the Silverado HD to keep running—even if only one wheel has traction! The F-Super Duty doesn’t have real four-wheel drive. The Ford can easily get stuck, despite having one or more wheels with traction.The Silverado HD also has a great deal more standard payload capacity than the F-Super Duty. The Crew Cab Silverado HD 3500 4×4 has a payload capacity of 4,190 pounds compared to the Ford Super Duty’s greatly reduced 3,260 pounds of payload capacity! That means the Silverado HD can get work done that the Super Duty just can’t handle. 

Suspension and Handling: The Chevrolet Silverado HD’s independent front suspension is lighter than the F-Super Duty 4×4’s solid front axle. This gives the Silverado HD greater capacity to react to the road. This makes both the ride and handling of the Chevy better than the Ford. For an even smoother ride and better handling the Silverado HD’s wheelbase is longer than the F-Super Duty’s. 

Brakes and Stopping For better stopping power the Silverado HD’s standard brake rotors are bigger than the F-Super Duty’s rotors. The Silverado HD’s superior rotor size and other factors allow it to stop shorter and faster than the F-Super Duty. 

Tires and Wheels: The Silverado HD offers tires with better handling because they have a lower profile that gives a stiffer sidewall than the F-Super Duty’s optional tires. 

Interior: The Silverado HD Regular Cab has more front headroom and more front legroom than the F-Super Duty Regular Cab. The Silverado HD Extended Cab also has more front head and leg room well as more rear head and leg room than the F-Super Duty SuperCab. The Silverado HD Crew Cab has more front room than the F-Super Duty SuperCrew. Thus, the Chevy Silverado HD is the more specious and comfortable choice than the Ford Super Duty. The Silverado HD has an all welded cargo box as opposed to the Ford Super Duty’s bolted cargo box. This means that the Silverado HD has a hugely reduced chance of having rust and corrosion throughout its life than the F-Super Duty. 

Convenience: When the Silverado HD LTZ reverses, both rearview mirrors tilt from their positions giving the driver better rearview vision. The F-Super Duty’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust when backing up. The Silverado HD LTZ has standard automatic dimming rear and side view mirrors that automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them. The F-Super Duty’s side mirrors don’t dim.

2012 Chevrolet Volt vs Toyota Prius  The Toyota Prius is a hybrid vehicle capable of running continuously solely on electric power for only one mile, which also requires that the Prius be moving at low speeds. The Prius has four equipment levels, although they all share an identical powertrain.

 Power and Performance: The Prius is a hybrid vehicle, which uses a constantly shifting mix of electric and gasoline power. The Chevrolet Volt is a real electric vehicle that uses electricity to provide its power all the time. This allows the Chevy Volt to travel 35 miles in all-electric zero-emission mode before uses its gasoline powered generator. The Prius can only accomplish fully electric operations with zero-emissions for 1 mile and it must do so at low speeds. The horsepower rating of the Volt is 149. That is 15 more horsepower than the Prius’ 134 horsepower rating. This allows the Volt to do 0-60 mph in under nine seconds as opposed to the Prius, which takes almost 10 seconds to do the same thing. The battery used in the Prius is made of nickel-hydride. The Volt uses a lithium-ion battery, which stores more electricity, is safer and also better for the environment. The steering system in the Volt is also superior to the Prius due to the electric power steering motor being mounted directly to the steering racks. Volt’s also come standard with 17” wheels whereas only the most expensive Prius comes with 17” wheels. 

Comfort and Convenience: The Volt offers the Chevrolet MyLink system with voice recognition and direct connectivity to online programs such as Pandora. The Prius offers nothing comparable to this. The Chevy Volt has more hip and shoulder room than the Prius, which makes for a more comfortable ride, a standard remote start and keyless access system. Safety and Security: The Volt has 8 airbags standard while the Prius has only 7. In crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Volt has easily outperformed the Toyota Prius. Included among the universal safety superiority of the Volt over the Prius is the Volt’s 5-star roll-over rating as opposed to the Prius’ 4-star rating.
